3 fun activities to try the next time you are holidaying in Bristol

Bristol is a vibrant city with something for everyone to enjoy, no matter your age, interest or background. The bigger difficulty is trying to prioritise what you are going to do, and try and keep your schedule realistic! So here is a guide on 3 fun activities that we suggest you try when you set off from your hotel, Airbnb or Serviced apartments in Bristol.

Activities to immerse yourself in Bristol

The M Shed

The M Shed is a museum on Prince’s Wharf which displays 3,000 artefacts and stories from Bristol; telling the story of Bristol’s role in the slave trade and the wider history of the city through transport, people, and the arts.

Some of the items on display include brilliant models of Nick Park’s Oscar-winning animated duo Wallace and Gromit and pink spray-painted record decks donated by the innovative hip hop group Massive Attack.

The museum has a number of different exhibitions. The Bristol People gallery explores the history of creation, trade, challenges that Bristol has experienced and some of its most celebrated events.

The Bristol Places gallery focuses on the physical location of Bristol; it explores its Triassic past and the dinosaurs discovered in Clifton; the trains, planes and automobiles that were used to traverse the city and the homes throughout the ages that have sheltered Bristolians.

Finally, there is the Bristol Life gallery; which helps illuminate how people actually lived in Bristol, through their shared experiences, explores the routines that determined life in Bristol and how people both worked and played.

The M Shed is free to visit and is a great way to learn more about the city you are staying in and its history.

Experience Banksy’s Street Art

Bristol has become a hub for British Street art, and no artist is more famous in this scene than Banksy, one of the most famous people from the city. You can experience Banksy’s early stomping grounds where he made a name for himself through Visit Bristol’s walking tour of his artwork.

By following this great tour you will both enjoy some of his beloved pieces such as The Mild Mild West and The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum; as well as experience the city that shaped the brilliant artist on foot. The tour starts at Barton Hill, a stronghold of British drum and bass, then snakes its way into the centre of Bristol via a wonderful walk along the scenic riverside and an enjoyable ferry trip, and then up to the heart of Bristol’s cultural quarter, Stokes Croft.

The Clifton Suspension bridge

Finally, to round out your holiday schedule, why not visit one of Bristol’s most celebrated landmarks; the Clifton suspension bridge.

Removed from the city itself, whilst still easy to get to with a 40-minute walk from the city centre or about 20 minutes by public transport; it will give you a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, enjoy the landscapes, and get a breath of fresh air. The grand bridge, which was built by one of Britain’s greatest engineers Isambard Kingdom Brunel, provides brilliant views of the city you will have been experiencing, as well as down onto the luscious Avon Gorge and Leigh Woods.

If you are interested in these activities and want to embark on your own Bristolian adventure, you can now book a stay at one of the most luxurious providers of Serviced apartments in Bristol.
