3 Tips For Planning A Babymoon

Bringing a new baby into your life and into your home can cause some major transitions and growing pains for everyone involved. And although you might feel extremely excited for this new chapter in your life, it’s completely normal to want to celebrate or even grieve the ending of one era and the beginning of another.

For many couples, this can ideally be done by taking a babymoon together. Like a honeymoon the celebrates your new partnership before you join the world together, a babymoon celebrates your new parenthood before your little one joins your world. So to help you make the most of this experience, here are three tips for planning a babymoon.

Speak With Your Doctor First

Before you make any big plans for a babymoon, Jennifer Kelly Geddes, a contributor to Care.com, shares that you’re first going to want to speak with your doctor. The most important thing when you’re pregnant is that you’re keeping yourself and your baby safe. And if going on a babymoon puts you or your little one in jeopardy, you might have to cancel your plans.

So prior to booking plane tickets or making hotel reservations, make sure you talk with your doctor about your health and safety for taking a babymoon. The last thing you want to do is put additional stress on yourself or the baby by getting hurt, sick, or being in some kind of accident while you’re traveling.

Pick The Right Time To Go

While you might like the idea of getting away and reconnecting with your partner right before Baby arrives, you’re actually going to want to take your babymoon a little earlier on in your pregnancy.

According to Bryan Richards, a contributor to TripIt.com, the best time to take a babymoon is during your second trimester, or between weeks 14 and 28. If you plan your babymoon too soon, you might still be dealing with early pregnancy symptoms like nausea or fatigue. But if you wait to long into your pregnancy, you might be getting too big to really enjoy your trip or have a hard time getting around on planes or other transportation.

Give Yourself Time To Relax

Although you might want to take advantage of this time prior to your baby arriving to do something you haven’t done before or get certain things done, Priscilla Blossom, a contributor to Brit.co, recommends that you make the mission of your babymoon rest and relaxation

By picking a location that will allow you to steer clear of crowds, not feel too stressed out, and take your time getting from here to there, you’ll be able to have a much more enjoyable babymoon and feel truly ready when it’s time for your little one to arrive.

If you’ll be having a baby in a few months, consider using this time to plan a babymoon before the big day comes.
